National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member Shivraj V.Patil has expressed displeasure at the inadequate infrastructure facilities at the Government Hospital for Mental Care. The member inspected the hospital on Saturday.

Speaking to media, he said there were no proper gardens, books and journals in the hospital. All these were necessary to provide relaxation to the mentally ill patients. However, he expressed satisfaction over the quality of services rendered by doctors.

The hospital has only one Post Graduate Doctor and three Diploma holders as against the requirement of six PG Doctors and 12 diploma holders. He expressed the need to fill up the vacant posts. He said a report would be prepared in about six months and submitted to the authorities concerned.
